Choreg-Easter Bread

Items needed:

1/4 cup warm water, 1 Tablespoon dry yeast, 1/2 Tablespoon sugar
6 to 7 cup flour (as needed) 6 eggs beaten , 1 3/4 cup sugar
1 cup warm milk, 1 cup melted butter,
1 cup plain yogurt
1 Tablespoon mahleb, 1 Tablespoon mastica.


Pour water in a bowl, sprinkle with yeast and sugar, set aside a few minutes, until yeast is
activated. In a large bowl, combine the flour eggs, sugar, milk, (sugar should be melted in the milk), butter, yogurt, mahleb and mastica.

Mix them well together. Then add yeast mixture. Add extra flour or milk as needed until soft or somewhat sticky dough is formed, Cover well and set aside for 5 hours, until dough doubles in size. With lightly floured hands, break some portion of the dough and form into desired shapes. Placed on progressed cookie sheets; brush top of cookies with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees F for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
